Leipzig (in Portuguese Leipzig) Is independent city (Kreisfreie Stadt) Of state of Saxony in Germany, Headquarters administrative region homonymous. It is located east of the country. Leipzig is about 510 thousand inhabitants, the largest city in the state of Saxony. It is part of metropolitan Metropolregion Sachsendreieck.

Originates from an ancient Slavic settlement named Lipsk.
