Portugal - Odivelas

Postcard from Portugal, Odivelas. This is the city where I live.

Odivelas is a Portuguese town in the district of Lisbon, Lisbon region and sub-region of Greater Lisbon, with about 59,500 inhabitants.

It is home to a very small municipality with 26.14 km ² and 144,549 inhabitants (2011), divided into seven parishes. The council is limited to the northeastern city of Loures, southeast and west to Lisbon for Amadora and Sintra. The county lies in 1998, following the secession of the seven parishes of the county then southwest Loures.

The current county area of Maynooth was affected by the phenomenon of sobreurbanização. Between 1950 and 1970, the population of the parish odivelense increased from 6772 to 51,395 inhabitants. The growth of the population favored his elevation to the status of village (1964) and subsequently to the City (1990).
