Monchique is village Portuguese in District of Faro, region and subregion of Algarve.
It is a municipal city with 396.15 kilometers ² and 6441 inhabitants (2006). It is bordered to the north by the municipality of Beja, east by Silves, south by Portimão, southwest by Lagos and west by Aljezur.
The county was created in Monchique 1773, By splitting up the county Silves.
